Additional improvements include ITS infrastructure such as CCTV cameras and wireless communications, underground electrical and communication systems, roadway milling and resurfacing, updated signing and pavement markings, pedestrian facilities, and minor curb, gutter, and sidewalk improvements. Update #1 ·
The purpose of this project shall be to improve pedestrian connectivity along the North 17th Avenue corridor. Currently, there are existing sidewalks in this part of the East Hill neighborhood, but those sidewalks are aging and require repair or replacement. In other cases, sidewalks may run for a single block without continuing to the next. This project aims to connect and repair those sidewalks, improving connectivity and accessibility for all users. This project includes but is not necessarily limited to demolition of pavement, excavation, cut/fill, concrete paving, construction of curb/gutter, installation of formwork, placement of asphalt, adjustment of water meter boxes, valve boxes, cleanouts, and other utility enclosures, placement of thermoplastic pavement markings, adjustment or relocation of existing landscaping, and sodding. All sidewalks shall meet accessibility requirements as much as practicable including grading and finishing to achieve required cross and running slopes, placement of detectable warning plates, and construction of ramps that do not cause ponding of or impede the flow of stormwater.
