About this opportunity
The National Science Foundation's Geobiology and Low-Temperature Geochemistry (GG) Program is seeking grant proposals for fundamental research on geochemical processes in terrestrial Earth's surface systems and the interaction of geochemical and biological processes. The program supports field, laboratory, theoretical, or modeling studies of these processes and related mechanisms at all spatial and temporal scales. Key objectives include advancing transformational and cutting-edge research, as well as developing geochemical proxies and analytical techniques. The program is highly interdisciplinary, interfacing with other NSF programs in biology, chemistry, and engineering.
Awards under this opportunity may range from $79,139 to $4,893,936, typically spanning 1-5 year project periods. The work is predominantly performed at academic facilities, field sites, scientific observatories, and research vessels across the United States, with numerous opportunities for interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
Synopsis
The Geobiology and Low-Temperature Geochemistry Program supports research on geochemical processes in terrestrial Earth's surface systems, as well as the interaction of geochemical and biological processes. Proposals may address field, laboratory, theoretical, or modeling studies of these processes and related mechanisms at all spatial and temporal scales. The Geobiology and Low-Temperature Geochemistry Program is interested in supporting transformational and cutting-edge research. The Program also supports the development of geochemical proxies and analytical techniques. The Program is highly interdisciplinary and interfaces with other programs within the Geosciences Directorate, and with programs across NSF, including in biology, chemistry, and engineering.
