About this opportunity
The USDA Agricultural Marketing Service is offering the Bison Production and Marketing Grant Program (BPMGP) to support projects that strengthen and enhance the production and marketing of bison and bison products in the United States. The program aims to improve business and resource development, as well as develop innovative approaches to solve long-term needs in the bison industry. Eligible applicants include agricultural businesses, cooperatives, producer networks, local governments, nonprofits, economic development corporations, tribal governments, and federally chartered tribal organizations, with priority given to national nonprofits and federally chartered tribal organizations with expertise in bison production or marketing. Applications are due by April 22, 2025, and the evaluation criteria prioritize practical solutions that deliver measurable benefits for bison producers, encourage industry partnerships, and reduce duplication of effort.
The BPMGP will provide approximately $2 million in total grant funding, with recipients required to use at least 80% of their award for competitive subawards up to $150,000 each to support projects benefiting bison producers. The grant performance period is three years, from September 30, 2025 to September 29, 2028, and projects may include business consulting, marketing assistance, research, product innovation, and educational programming.
