About this opportunity

The National Science Foundation is soliciting applications for the Analysis Program to fund research in analysis, with proposals due September 30, 2026. Applicant types are unrestricted. The program supports research in complex, harmonic, and real analysis; dynamical systems and ergodic theory; functional analysis; mathematical physics; operator theory and operator algebras; and partial differential equations and calculus of variations.

Proposals for conferences or workshops must be submitted through the separate "Conferences and Workshops in the Mathematical Sciences" solicitation. Conference proposals with budget requests exceeding $50,000 typically require external review and are subject to significantly longer processing times. Conference proposals whose submission dates do not conform to specified windows will be returned without review: for events starting between March 1 and September 30, submit between September 16 and September 30 in the previous year; for events starting between October 1 and the last day of February, submit between May 16 and May 30 of the event year. More broadly, proposals for conferences, workshops, and similar activities should be submitted 8 months in advance of the proposed event start date.

The opportunity is assigned to the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049). The NSF Grants.gov Application Guide (NSF 24-006), effective for applications submitted or due on or after May 20, 2024, governs the application process. All applicants must register with NSF via Research.gov Account Management and maintain valid System for Award Management registration with an active Unique Entity Identifier. The project narrative is limited to fifteen pages, budget justification to five pages, and the Data Management and Sharing Plan to two pages.

Update #2 · Latest ·

The Analysis Program supports research in analysis. Areas of current activity include complex, harmonic, and real analysis; dynamical systems and ergodic theory; functional analysis; mathematical physics; operator theory and operator algebras; partial differential equations and calculus of variations. Conferences Proposals to the Analysis Program for conferences or workshops must be submitted through the program solicitation "Conferences and Workshops in the Mathematical Sciences" (link below). Principal Investigators should carefully read the solicitation to obtain important information regarding the substance of proposals for conferences, workshops, and similar activities. To facilitate timely notification of the availability of support, proposals for conferences, workshops, and similar activities should be submitted 8 months in advance of the start date of the proposed event.

Update #1 ·

To facilitate timely notification of the availability of support, the following requirements are in effect: for support of an event that has a starting date between March 1 and September 30 during a given year, the proposal must be submitted between September 16 and September 30 in the previous year; for support of an event that has a starting date between October 1 in a given year and the last day of February in the following year, the proposal must be submitted between May 16 and May 30 of that year. Conference proposals to the Analysis Program whose submission dates do not conform with the requirements described above will be returned without review. Prospective PIs of proposals for conferences, workshops, etc., whose budget requests exceed $50,000 are reminded that such proposals will, in general, require external review and hence are subject to significantly longer processing times.
