About this forecast

The Department of Agriculture is seeking a timber sale stewardship service contract for the Wildcat DxP project to remove standing dead timber and non-saw timber from the forest site. The primary objective is to utilize a stewardship contract mechanism to offset cutting, skidding, and decking costs while meeting project purposes and preparing units for subsequent burn treatments. The solicitation is forecasted for release on July 1, 2026, with an estimated award date of June 30, 2026.

The estimated award value ranges from $250,000 to $499,000, with a basic exercised value of $350,000 under a firm fixed-price contract structure. Work will be performed at Cle Elum, WA 98922 under full and open competition in Region 06, Unit 0617, as part of the Active Forest Management program. Interested contractors should contact the U.S. Department of Agriculture Small Business office at sm.fs.smallbusiness@usda.gov for additional information regarding this logging opportunity.

Forecast text

This is a timber sale that has a large about of standing dead timber in it. We plan on utilizing a Stewardship service contract to offset the costs to cut/skid/ and deck all of the non-saw given that markets and facilities no longer support this being included in standard contracts and the removal is needed in order to meet the purpose and need of the project and set the units up for successful follow up burn treatments.
