Forecast text

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Office of Information and Technology (OIT) has a requirement to obtain Veeam software maintenance support. USCIS requires annual maintenance support for software licenses to ensure continuous operation and support. USCIS OIT has invested in Veeam software in the prior years, which they are currently utilizing. Since OIT owns Veeam software, it is a requirement to get annual maintenance renewed for those software licenses. Veeam software maintenance shall have the following: Global, 24x7 support for Severity 1 issues; unlimited number of support requests; product-specific remote tech support; online access to documentation and technical resources, knowledge base, and discussion forums; education services when the product does not function as described or expected; right of access to security and bug patches; and, right to upgrade to new product versions and revisions. The Veeam suite of software tools are used in support USCIS field operations. The utility is deployed to 100+ field sites as well as hosted on a central database server to manage the environment. This tool replaces existing backup solutions currently deployed to the field. Operators of the software include Enterprise Infrastructure Division (EID) and End User Support (EUS) divisions in OIT. The software provides recovery of virtualized applications and data. It provides backup and replication together in a single solution with support for VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual environments that exist at USCIS. What it does: The Veeam software backs up our virtual IT environments. This provides USCIS a way to recover data in the event it is lost. Who it supports: The Veeam suite of software tools are used in support all of USCIS and its field operations. The utility is deployed to 100 field sites as well as hosted on a central database server to manage the environment. Why we need it: This tool replaced existing backup solutions that were deployed to the field. This software provides us a backup of data that exists in our IT virtual environments in case of emergency or disaster recovery.
