Forecast text
The United States Border Patrol (USBP) is a subcomponent of CBP with a workforce that works and trains in environments that place them at increased risk for cold stress situations. In addition to ongoing training, emergency response planning, work practice controls, and leveraging technology, USBP is taking steps to implement additional cold stress mitigation efforts by deploying cold stress kits to reduce cold stress injuries and illnesses for the workforce and others. The cold stress kits will contain critical items that can be used as an intermediate tool to mitigate cold stress situations. As first responders, USBP Agents are trained to recognize signs and symptoms of cold stress and will utilize the kits to apply immediate techniques to prevent permanent disability or death.
