About this forecast
The Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking a comprehensive renovation of the Gaithersburg Site Effluent Treatment System, which was originally constructed in the mid-1990s. The project requires a complete internal replacement of all system components and restoration of life safety systems, as the current infrastructure has severely deteriorated, including structural failures like floor collapse. The estimated solicitation release is scheduled for May 15, 2026, with an anticipated award date of August 15, 2026.
The contract is set aside for small businesses with an estimated award value range between $251,000 and $500,000. The project will be performed at the NIST location in Gaithersburg, Maryland, and is currently planned as a sole-source competition. The primary point of contact is Dawn Geraci, an Administrative Assistant in the Calibration Program, who can be reached at dawn.geraci@nist.gov for potential inquiries about this federal contract opportunity.
