Forecast text
The SHARC database is vital to MMA’s ability to conduct efficient and accurate shallow hazard, environmental, and archaeological reviews for permitting oil and gas infrastructure on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). By consolidating diverse datasets into a single geo-spatial platform, SHARC streamlines plan and permit reviews, eliminating the need to search multiple sources and enabling faster, more informed decision making. In addition to hazard and environmental data, SHARC includes a module for geological and geotechnical data to support on-going sediment resource assessments. Its development and population are critical to improving operational efficiency, ensuring data integrity, and maintaining regulatory compliance across all of MMA’s program areas.
