About this forecast
The National Park Service, under the Department of the Interior, is procuring environmental consulting services for the GUIS Sediment Placement Modification project, a restoration initiative mandated by the Oil Pollution Act to address barrier island habitat injuries from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. The work stems from the 2016 settlement with British Petroleum and requires timely execution to collect crucial data evaluating project success and to leverage partner funding opportunities. Solicitation release is estimated for January 31, 2027.
The estimated award value ranges from $250,000 to $499,000, with performance in Colorado. Bret Meldrum, Contracting Officer's Representative at the National Park Service, serves as the point of contact (bret_meldrum@nps.gov, 970-889-3205).
Forecast text
This project is being conducted per the requirements of the Oil Pollution Act (OPA). The source of NPS’ project funds is the 2016 settlement with British Petroleum for injuries to barrier island habitat caused by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. NPS is obligated under OPA to restore these injuries. If delayed, we could not collect crucial data that would evaluate project success and we would miss out on opportunities to leverage funds from partners.
