About this forecast

The Department of the Interior is procuring maintenance and expansion services for the Marine Minerals Information System (MMIS), a data platform supporting mineral leasing decisions. The requirement includes ongoing data management and application maintenance to sustain MMIS operations, alongside investment to expand the data model and assets to support discovery of nautical charts, coastal management information, and potentially sensitive continental margin data compatible with NOAA's deep sea mining data initiative. The estimated award value ranges from $1.0 million to $1.9 million under a definitive contract. Work is national in scope and administered by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's Marine Minerals Division. Forecast text

National in scope.

Proposed MMIS investment includes ongoing maintenance of MMIS and expanding CM data model and data assets. Each year MMIS must be funded for data management/application maintenance to ensure that the MMIS continues to operate as a dependable data platform for timely mineral leasing. Beyond maintenance, an investment to rapidly expand the MMIS data model and data assets to support discovery of NOCMI data and research is also proposed to include potentially sensitive CM information while being compatible with NOAA deep sea mining data initiative.
