About this forecast

The Department of the Interior, via the National Park Service, will solicit for replacement of propane furnaces and thermostats in 13 park buildings and 9 housing units in Hawaii, with solicitation release estimated for January 31, 2027. The existing 90% high efficiency units installed in 2003/2004 have exceeded their service life and incur frequent costly repairs; replacement furnaces must meet or exceed 90% high efficiency specifications and address safety concerns including potential heat exchanger cracks and carbon monoxide leakage.

The estimated award value ranges from $250,000 to $499,000. Performance location is Hawaii. Rhonda Loh, Chief of Natural Resources Management at the National Park Service, is the point of contact (rhonda_loh@nps.gov).

Forecast text

This project will replace our 90% high efficiency propane furnaces, that were installed in 2003/2004, with new 90%+ high efficiency propane furnaces and thermostats in 13 park buildings and 9 housing units which are past their life expectancy. These units have become high maintenance with costly repairs and parts replacement. Due to the age of the units, it is expected that this will result in cracked heat exchangers and leaking of carbon monoxide into the buildings. T
