Forecast text
Compute, Operations, Resilience & Endpoints Directorate (CORED) serves as the primary point of contact for DHS Headquarters customers, providing access to reliable, effective, secure, and flexible IT services and products that are essential for mission success. CORED supports various DHS organizations, including the Federal Protective Service (FPS), by ensuring IT infrastructure meets operational requirements and by advocating for customers in resolving service delivery issues. FPS Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) require specialized IT equipment to support their unique operational environments and mission-critical activities.
Unlike standard laptops, ruggedized laptops are specifically designed to withstand harsh and demanding environments, including exposure to extreme temperatures, moisture, dust, and physical impacts. FPS LEOs operate in a variety of challenging settings; such as outdoor locations, construction sites, and areas with heightened security risks, where standard laptops may not provide the necessary durability or reliability.
Ruggedized laptops offer enhanced protection against environmental hazards and accidental drops, ensuring uninterrupted operation during critical law enforcement activities. Additionally, these devices are equipped with advanced security features (such as Touch FIPS 201 Fingerprint Readers and Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities) and meet MIL-STD-810H testing standards, aligning with FPS requirements for secure and resilient IT equipment.
The specific hardware requirements are identified herein. To be eligible for award, vendors must be direct resellers of the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). 300 Ruggedized Laptops
