Notice text
This work ("elevator repair") will be awarded to, and accomplished by, either MGC Roofing & Construction, Inc. or Rycars Construction, LLC. Both of these Contractors were awarded an IDIQ Contract resulting from one solicitation to Repair or Replace Roofs Base Wide, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. This was a "Multiple Award", and Orders for roof related Projects are being awarded to each Contractor as a result of competition between these two incumbents. This elevator repair work is incidental to the Order to replace the roof on Bldg. 169. Despite the fact that the elevator is in close proximity to the roof work that will be done, and the associated electrical work is related to electrical work that could possibly be required under a "roof" Order, Offerors that participated in the Base Wide Repair/Replace Roofs Base Wide acquisition would not have been aware that this elevator repair could have been required under one of these two IDIQ Contracts. As such, it is being synopsized.
This work consists of freight elevator repairs, including expanded metal partition to structure above, replace galvanized open steel grating, replace sump pump, and replace safety lights in elevator operations and maintenance area.
Justification: This "one time only" work must be accomplished or controlled by the same contractor that will be replacing the roof and metal wall panels for the entire building in this large multi-phased contract. This contract is set up to perform the work in a manner that limits the impact on the manufacturing production work being accomplished in this facility. The extremely detailed "Phasing" that is required by this Order necessitates one person (the Prime Contractor's representative) being solely responsible for all work accomplishedunder thisOrder. The elevator repairs are in the same area as the preponderance of work, and it would be counter-productive and unsafe to bring in another independent contractor to do this small amount of work during the main contract period. Also, a different contractor may violate existing roof Warranties already in place for the roof work.
