About this opportunity

The Defense Health Agency has issued a Special Notice seeking a demonstration of telemaintenance hardware and software technologies at Ft Detrick, Maryland on March 26, 2025. The opportunity focuses on advanced remote support and maintenance capabilities for medical devices within the Army's healthcare infrastructure. This Special Notice (ID: 6c43a27b6441422a81d59e09ee0dec14) was posted on February 21, 2025, with a response deadline of March 26, 2025. The notice is not set aside for any specific type of contractor, indicating broad potential participation. The telemaintenance demonstration will be evaluated for its potential to transform medical equipment maintenance and support processes.

The primary objective of this demonstration is to showcase technologies that enable remote troubleshooting, interactive voice and video communication, and augmented reality (AR) maintenance support. Potential contractors are invited to demonstrate solutions that can provide "see what I see" maintenance capabilities and digital guidance through glasses or headsets. The Defense Health Agency anticipates near-term impacts including precise troubleshooting, tele-mentoring of junior technicians, and increased confidence in maintenance expertise and parts requirements. Long-term goals include improving medical device readiness rates, reducing equipment shipping volumes, and creating more cost-effective training methodologies. Interested parties are instructed to register for the demo event through a provided Eventbrite link and can contact the agency directly to schedule specific demonstration times. No explicit eligibility restrictions are mentioned, suggesting the opportunity is open to technology providers with relevant telemaintenance capabilities.

Notice text

Greetings!!

What: We seek a demonstration of telemaintenance hardware and software that can provide:

  • Remote troubleshooting and support via interactive voice and video communication (“see what I see” maintenance support).
  • Augmented Reality (AR) assistance with digital guidance (media, telestration, step-by-step instructions) overlaid onto real-world equipment through glasses or headsets.

Where: Ft Detrick, MD

When: March 26, 2025

Why: A robust telemaintenance program could significantly reduce the volume of medical devices shipped to higher maintenance levels. Near-term impacts include precise troubleshooting, tele-mentoring of junior technicians, and higher confidence in expertise and parts required. Long-term effects could include greater proficiency, cost-effective training, and higher medical device readiness rates across the Army.
