About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation is procuring a structural component (NSN 7R-1720-016668086-EY) classified under Aircraft Launching Equipment (PSC 1720). This is a new spares requirement for a flight-critical item that requires Government source approval prior to contract award due to the lack of available technical drawings and the specialized engineering, manufacturing, and repair knowledge required to maintain part quality. Only sources previously approved by the Government for this item have been solicited, as the technical data available is insufficient to support full and open competition. Prospective contractors who are not approved sources must submit source approval information documentation along with their proposals detailing their company's experience in production of the same or similar items. The proposal due date is February 8, 2026, with the pre-solicitation notice posted on December 24, 2025.
This procurement involves no set-aside designation and will acquire 20 units with FOB Origin delivery terms. The requirement specifically identifies that alternate sources may qualify only in accordance with the design control activity's procedures and must receive Government engineering activity approval prior to any contract award. The notice emphasizes that the time required for approval of new sources is typically such that contract award cannot be delayed pending such approval, effectively limiting competition to previously qualified suppliers. No award value or budget range is specified in the pre-solicitation notice. Interested contractors should consult the NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Business Opportunities portal for detailed source approval information brochures and additional technical requirements.
