About this opportunity

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Defense Sciences Office is conducting an Information Session webcast on August 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. EDT to introduce the Selective Harnessing of Intrinsic Neuroplasticity Engineering (SHINE) Disruption Opportunity, with registration closing August 14, 2026. The SHINE program aims to harness neuroplasticity to precisely and non-invasively target and enhance the brain's ability to adapt and rewire itself for more complete recovery after injury. Research approaches will span molecular engineering, neuromodulation, biomaterials, behavioral interventions, and synthetic biology. All awards will be issued as Other Transactions for prototype projects under 10 U.S.C. 4022 and released as Solicitation Notices under the Disruptioneering Program Announcement (DARPA-PA-25-07). DARPA anticipates releasing the SHINE DO in August 2026 on SAM.gov. Advance registration is mandatory and free of charge via https://events.sa-meetings.com/SHINEInformationSession/.
