Notice text

Added: May 06, 2016 6:57 pm The U.S. Department of Transportation Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) intends to conduct negotiations by soliciting from a single source under the authority of FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b) in anticipation of awarding a purchase order to Convergint Technologies LLC, a large business located in Schaumburg, IL. The order will be for services to convert the Volpe Center's security system from analog video to Internet Protocol (IP). Three specific phases of work will be required for this upgrade as follows: recording technologies head end replacement, integration of existing analog cameras to new Lenel network video recording platform, and installation of new IP cameras and/or upgrades of existing analog cameras to high definition IP.  The company performing this work must be fully licensed not only to work on the Lenel system itself but also at the specific Volpe Center location.  Convirgent is the only company currently able to accommodate this need. To wait for another company to receive the required approval, background investigations, etc. would be detrimental to the Government's needed delivery schedule and also cause a significant cost increase. This is why the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with them only. The applicable North American Industry Classification System number is 561621 with a size standard of $20.5 million. There is currently no quotation document available for this acquisition. As this procurement is for a commercial service, interested parties shall make inquiries and/or provide capability information to the contact point shown in this notice within six (6) calendar days after publication of this announcement, or by 1530 hours Eastern Time on 11 May 16. All timely responses received will be considered by the Government, however, a decision to compete this requirement or not is solely within the Government's discretion. Businesses will not be reimbursed for any costs associated with information submitted in response to this announcement.
