About this opportunity
This pre-solicitation notice is for a federal contract opportunity issued by the Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and bulk RNA sequencing services for an influenza vaccine study. The objective is to identify key genes, cell types, and molecular pathways involved in the protective immune response elicited by vaccines, which will inform the development of more effective vaccines and therapeutics. The contractor will be required to perform library construction and next-generation sequencing (NGS) services, as well as bioinformatics analysis, with specific turnaround time requirements. Minimum vendor qualifications include proven capacity to meet the stated throughput and turnaround time targets.
The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate any set-aside designation. The maximum number of samples is 450 for bulk RNA-seq and 225 for scRNA-seq, but the potential award value or budget range is not specified. There are no details provided about any potential incumbent contractors or the timeline for the eventual solicitation and contract award.
Notice text
This initiative seeks to provide the Influenza Division with library construction and NGS services for RNA sequencing. Samples from various infected, vaccinated, and/or control cohorts will be provided to the Contractor for bulk RNA sequencing and scRNA-seq. Combining the results of both bulk RNA sequencing and scRNA-seq allows for the identification of key genes, cell types, and molecular pathways involved in the protective immune response elicited by vaccines. In turn, these insights will inform the development of more effective vaccines and therapeutic strategies for combating influenza and other infectious diseases.
