About this opportunity
The USDA requires a contractor to provide sap flow sensors for measuring sap flux through soybean plants in an agricultural field, with the aim of estimating canopy transpiration rate and studying the effects of predicted vapor pressure deficit changes. The sensors must be compatible with specific data loggers, provide measurements at least every 30 minutes, and be able to measure stems of varying diameters. The equipment should be delivered within 30 calendar days from the date of receipt, with the anticipated award of a Firm Fixed Price contract and the close date for competition extended to 9/20/23 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
List of products and services to be provided:
- Sap flow sensors suitable for quantification of sap flux through stems of living soybean plants in an agricultural field.
- Sensors compatible with Campbell data loggers and multiplexors, and Dynamax FLOW32 logger systems.
- Sensors providing measurements at least every 30 minutes.
- Three sets of sensors to measure fluxes at three locations, each set capable of measuring at least eight stems independently.
- Equipment including software to transform voltages and currents from the sensor into sap flow rates.
- Sensors with power requirements that allow operation from a 12 V lead acid battery connected to a charger.
- Sensors that do not pierce the stem.
- Sensors capable of measuring stems with diameters between 4 to 11 mm.
- Cables connecting the sensors to the box, at least 20 feet long.
- Delivery of the equipment within 30 calendar days from date of receipt.
