About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command seeks to procure the design, development, and first article testing of eight rotary position sensor encoders for the Advanced Secondary Propulsion System on USS Jimmy Carter. The encoders must replace existing components and require expertise in shock, vibration, and interface requirements to integrate with the designed rotational deployment mechanism. Proposers must demonstrate the technical capability to accomplish the work as described in the attached justification and approval document. Proposals will be evaluated based on the proposer's technical capability to meet the requirements. The deadline to submit sufficient documentation is April 16, 2019.

This requirement has no set-aside designation. The attached justification and approval document seeks sole-source procurement from Curtiss-Wright Electro-Mechanical Division based on its expertise and to avoid delays and duplicate costs associated with having another contractor develop the necessary design data. The contract would include the development of specifications, drawings, material procurement, first article manufacture of the eight encoders, and certification testing. The Navy determined Curtiss-Wright's price to be fair and reasonable based on past contracts for similar work.
