RECOVERY -  THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION (SSA) AWARDED TASK ORDER 0036 AGAINST SS00-09-60009, WHICH IS FUNDED BY THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT OF 2009 (PUB. L. 111-5) (RECOVERY ACT).  THE AGENCY PROVIDES THIS NOTICE "FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY."

On August 10, 2012, SSA awarded a non-competitive Task Order, Number 0036, against an existing SSA Contract, Number SS00-09-60009, to the existing Systems Operational Support Services (SOSS) contractor, Koniag Services, Inc., of Chantilly VA.

The SSA awarded a non-competitive single-award indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract January 2009, for a five year period (one year base period, and four one-year option periods) to the contractor, who is recognized as an Alaskin Native Corporation, under the Small Business Administration's 8(a) program.

The SOSS contract supports SSA's Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Systems, by providing a contractor to support the maintenance and continuity of the agency's technological and programmatic environment.  Support covers the following areas: Mainframe Hardware, Local Area Network Engineering, Network Engineering, Facilities, Communications, Computer Operations, Computer Scheduling and Document Management Imaging.

SSA initially anticipated issuing a labor-hour task order to the contractor under the SOSS contract following the ordering procedures in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 16.505, and where supplemented by the Ordering procedures outlined in the basic contract.  However, through negotiations, SSA awarded a firm-fixed-price task order to complete the tasks outlined below.

Task Order 0036 allows the contractor to support SSA's Second Support Center by providing storage management support to manage the increasing number of complex interrelated Direct Access Storage Device based and tape-based mainframe applications.  This task requires expertise in mainframe storage management programming on database management systems and the ability to develop complex software to satisfy design objectives.

In addition, this Task Order requires the ability to: (1) Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities; (2) Develop bloxk diagrams and logid flowcharts; (3) Translate detailed designs into computer software; (4) Develop and perform test/debug functions; and (5) Refine computer software to produce the required product.

This award notice is issued for "Informational purposes only," and complies with the FAR 5.705, Publicizing postaward, requirement.
