About this opportunity

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has issued a Special Notice for the Reclaiming Bus-based Systems During Compromise (Red-C) Proposers Day, scheduled for January 28, 2025. The event will be held both in-person at Amentum in Arlington, VA and virtually via Microsoft Teams. The Red-C program focuses on developing innovative cybersecurity technology for bus-based computer systems, specifically aiming to enable on-system recovery from active cyber-attacks. By transforming bus components into forensic sensors with introspection and peer component monitoring capabilities, the program seeks to enhance the resilience of computational systems against potential security breaches. The initiative will concentrate on PCIe and CXL bus technologies, representing a cutting-edge approach to cybersecurity research and development.

The Proposers Day event has specific participation guidelines and requirements for potential contractors. In-person attendance is limited to 136 participants, with organizations restricted to three representatives per unit and five people overall. Registration is mandatory and must be completed by January 23, 2025, at 12:00 PM ET. Non-U.S. citizens are required to submit either DARPA Form 60 or an Official Visit Request by the registration deadline. The event will include presentations from the DARPA Program Manager Bernard McShea and support offices, followed by a Q&A session. DARPA is actively encouraging teaming among potential proposers and will provide a web page for participants to submit organizational capabilities and desired expertise. Additionally, in-person attendees will have the opportunity to give two-minute oral presentations of their teaming slides on a first-come, first-served basis, facilitating potential collaboration and knowledge sharing among participants.

Notice text

Reclaiming Bus-based Systems During Compromise (Red-C) will construct a neighborhood watch for compute components connected via communication highways, known as buses. Red-C will enable on-system recovery from active cyber-attacks on bus-based systems by turning bus components into forensic sensors with introspection and peer component monitoring.
