About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation - Richmond is conducting market research to identify potential manufacturers or suppliers of a self-locking nut for the AH-64E aircraft, specifically exploring alternative sources beyond the current approved suppliers. The agency is seeking companies capable of manufacturing or legitimately obtaining this specific nut with the National Stock Number (NSN) 5310-01-463-1772. Interested parties are invited to submit responses to this Sources Sought Notice by March 26, 2025, with required information including points of contact and manufacturer location. Respondents who wish to be considered as an "Approved Source" must submit a comprehensive Source Approval Request (SAR) package demonstrating their ability to produce a product equal to or better than the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards. The technical evaluation will focus on the contractor's capacity to competently manufacture the product with equivalent or superior quality to existing approved sources.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside status for this procurement. Current approved sources include Bristol Industries, LLC (CAGE 27238), Howmet Global Fastening Systems Inc (CAGE 15653), and The Boeing Company (CAGE 8V613), each with specific part numbers for the self-locking nut. While no specific award value or quantity is mentioned, the opportunity is classified under NAICS category 332722 for Bolt, Nut, Screw, Rivet, and Washer Manufacturing. The procurement is specifically for a nut used in the E2A/AH-64E aircraft system, suggesting a military-specific component with potentially stringent technical requirements. Responses are voluntary, and the government emphasizes that this notice does not constitute a commitment to contract or obligate any funds for response preparation.
