Notice text

The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA),
Fort Detrick, Maryland in support of the US Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR), intends to negotiate on a sole source basis (IAW FAR 13.106-1) with Carl ZEISS Microscopy, LLC, 1 ZEISS Dr, Thornwood NY 10594-1939. Provisions and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-95 are incorporated.

USAISR has a requirement for the isolation and analysis of a variety of sample types without contamination. The ZEISS PALM Microbeam uses a patented process to capture specimens from cryosections, FFPE (formalin fixed and paraffin embedded) materials, native tissue like fresh plants, live cells and chromosomes allowing an investigator to define cells and tissue regions precisely, ensuring exact and reproducible results, without contamination. With the increasing use of histological samples at the USAISR, we require a system that allows for the simultaneous processing of tissues for multiple applications. ZEISS PALM allows for laser capture microdissection (LCM) and analysis for DNA, RNA and protein isolation, whether from archive material or live cells. The unique system combines LCM with an integrated imaging workstation that can also be used for cryosections, including FFPE tissue. With ZEISS-patented sample capture technology, LCM can be performed even from standard glass slides, e.g. archived material.
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) for this requirement is 334516 with a size standard of 1,000.
