About this opportunity

The U.S. Consulate General in Merida, a component of the Department of State, has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to WW. GRAINGER, INC. The contract pertains to the procurement of diagnostic test equipment and specialized tools for facility management purposes. The Contracting Officer has determined that a sole-source award is in the government's best interest due to the unusual and compelling urgency of the request and the vendor's past performance. This procurement is specifically for the "First Draw" of equipment approved by OBO/AMT (Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations/Asset Management Team). The notice was published on February 21, 2025, and represents a targeted acquisition of technical and specialized equipment for the U.S. Consulate's operational needs.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to procure a comprehensive set of diagnostic and specialized tools, including calibrators, phase rotation indicators, pressure calibrators, insulated tools, multimeters, moisture meters, wire tracers, pH meters, and various technical inspection equipment. Interested contractors have a 7-calendar-day window from the publication date to submit capability statements, though the government will not reimburse any costs associated with responding. The place of performance is located in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, with Dennis Monschein serving as the primary Contracting Officer contact. The sole-source justification is predicated on FAR 6.302-2, which allows for contracts under unusual and compelling urgency circumstances. While no specific set-aside has been designated, the contract appears targeted specifically to WW. GRAINGER, INC. based on their unique capabilities and responsiveness to the Consulate's immediate equipment requirements.
