About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center awarded contract FA857926C0009 to Lockheed Martin Corporation on June 10, 2026, for a Next-Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (Next-Gen OPIR) software depot activation gap analysis valued at $3,115,738.
The gap analysis will assess the current state and required capability of SWEG organizations to execute Next-Gen OPIR workload. Next-Gen OPIR is a two-satellite system intended to augment and ultimately replace the Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) program-of-record, providing worldwide initial warning of ballistic missile attacks using infrared detection. Next-Gen OPIR Polar (NGP) will deliver infrared coverage of the northern polar region. Lockheed Martin serves as prime contractor for NGG Space vehicles, with Raytheon as subcontractor for satellite payload. The award was made under unrestricted competition with no set-aside applied.
