Update #2 ·
Magnolia Bench Mastication, Phase II, 761 acres
This amendment is issued to answer a question received. All RFQ dates (site visit, quotes due) remain unchanged.
Q. Could we get some more clarity on the vertical shaft mulching equipment requirement, such as, are you looking for something like a disk mulcher attachment? If so, do you have any insights as to who makes them for front end loader types of machines? We currently run drum mulchers on our Barko and Kershaw, which I believe are classified as horizontal shaft mulchers, so we've been trying to find the vertical/disk style mulching attachments or machines already equipped with them, and have so far been unable to. We have found skid steer and excavator disk/vertical shaft attachments but nothing for the front end loader style machines, besides a very old hydro-axe.
A.Due to the amount of brush in this treatment, we are looking for an attachment that is vertical shaft (basically a large lawn mower) so that we don't leave as many sharp edges once the treatment is done. In our experience locally, the drum style mulchers leave a large amount of sharp pungie sticks that deter wildlife and livestock. As far as where to find them, we do not have any suggestions.
