Notice text
This is a Notice of Intent, not a request for proposal. The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to negotiate on an other than full and open competition basis with Luminex Corporation, Austin, TX for RPP NXTAG (RUO) 96 Tests.
The Viral Pathogenesis and Evolution Section of the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases (LID) is seeking to procure QTY 15, RPP NXTAG (RUO) 96 TESTS for their Luminex Magmix, compact fluorescent detection system suitable for medium-throughput multiplex immunoassays.
Lab background and use: Currently, LID employs the techniques of viral genetics and molecular biology to express protective viral antigens and attenuate viral mutants that may prove useful for prevention of disease. A number of promising live attenuated viral vaccines and virus-specific immunotherapies are under development and evaluation.
Active clinical protocols in our section study influenza infection in humans through natural history studies and in volunteer human challenge studies. These studies seek to characterize the pathogenesis of influenza infection in humans, evaluate immune responses, and evaluate novel therapeutics and vaccines in phase II efficacy trials.
The NxTAG Respiratory Pathogen Panel (RPP) is a multiplex assay that can detect 22 respiratory pathogens simultaneously in a closed system. This RPP assay requires minimal sample handling which greatly reduces the risk of contamination and also has a quick turn-around time. These kits will be used to diagnose human respiratory viruses to facilitate the completion of on-going clinical challenge studies.
Place of Performance is Bethesda, MD 20892.
