Update #1 ·
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) intends to issue a sole source award MTS Systems Corporation to upgrade the MTS structural loading system by purchasing new actuators and controller which will allow testing of large civil infrastructure made with new and innovative materials. This will be in support of the "lightweight high performance materials strongfloor capabilities increases" work unit. The components of this MTS system are proprietary to MTS Systems Corporation and need to be supplied and calibrated by the manufacturer in order to ensure proper operation during testing. In addition, new equipment needs to be compatible with the existing MTS equipment that is not being upgraded. Products and services from other vendors are insufficient as they do not have a complete knowledge of this system that will allow for proper usage. The award will be issued in accordance with FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). The applicable North American Industrial Classification System Code (NAICS) code that this work falls under is 334513 (Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing), with a size standard of 750 employees.
