About this opportunity

The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure lightning diverters, classified as miscellaneous aircraft accessories and components under PSC 1680. This acquisition requires engineering source approval by the design control activity to maintain part quality, as the item is flight-critical and the technical data available has not been determined adequate to support full and open competition. Only Government-approved sources have been solicited for this opportunity. Prospective contractors who are not already approved sources must submit detailed source approval information and technical data demonstrating their company's experience in producing the same or similar items. The evaluation will focus on the contractor's ability to meet Government qualification procedures and engineering standards established by the cognizant Government engineering activity. The due date for proposals is November 14, 2025, with the opportunity having been posted on July 15, 2025.

This procurement involves no set-aside designations and is restricted to previously approved sources only. The contract calls for delivery of three units with FOB origin terms. The acquisition includes parts identified by NSN 1R-1680-LLF02N135-P8 and reference number LDS10-01-47-1-G-380. Unapproved sources wishing to qualify must follow NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support procedures, which typically require substantial time for source approval—time that is normally insufficient to delay contract award pending new source qualification. Interested parties can access source approval information brochures and business opportunities through the NAVSUP Enterprise website. The restrictive nature of this procurement reflects the flight-critical nature of the item and the Government's emphasis on maintaining established quality standards through approved suppliers.
