About this opportunity

The Department of State has issued a Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice for a one-year satellite radio subscription service to support the U.S. Embassy Panama's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement maritime operations. The contract requires annual Push-To-Talk radio service and talk group management for thirty-six ICOM IC-SAT100 radios across fifteen talk group configurations, with services including setup, maintenance, and ongoing management to enable satellite communications during critical open water operations combating narcotics and transnational crimes. The sole source justification is based on the specialized nature of the ICOM radios, which are designed to operate exclusively with Iridium satellite services, and the significant costs associated with transitioning to alternative service providers. While the government description indicates the contract was awarded to an unknown vendor, the supporting documentation identifies Iridium Communications INC as the contractor. The estimated total contract value is $46,000 for the one-year service period, with the award date listed as July 24, 2025, supporting the Joint Maritime Force's maritime security and law enforcement capabilities in Panama.
