About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Network Contracting Office 16 is soliciting a Request for Quote (RFQ) for surgical instrument sharpening services at the Alexandria VA HealthCare System in Pineville, Louisiana. The contract seeks a vendor to provide comprehensive maintenance, including sharpening, repairing, testing, inspecting, and assessing surgical instruments used in operating rooms and clinical procedures. Interested offerors must have an active System for Award Management (SAM) registration and be certified as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). Technical questions are due by March 14, 2025, at 2:30 PM Central Daylight Time, with final offers required by March 20, 2025, at the same time. The solicitation will result in a firm-fixed price contract, with offerors expected to demonstrate compliance with medical industry standards and provide detailed technical capabilities for instrument maintenance.

The contract is specifically set aside for SDVOSBs and will cover a base period of one year with four optional one-year extensions, potentially running from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2030. The place of performance is located at 2495 Shreveport Hwy 71, Pineville, LA 71360. The contractor will be required to perform a minimum of one service visit per month, with each visit lasting up to two days and servicing a minimum of 10 trays and 15 single instruments. The government estimates approximately two case carts will require service annually, with two additional carts needing new casters each year. While specific award value was not explicitly stated, the contract will involve comprehensive surgical instrument maintenance across multiple medical specialties, including Dental, Eye, General Surgery, Gynecological, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, and Urology instrument sets.
