About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime is seeking to procure 600 drums of 80 HPX Garnet Abrasive, with each drum weighing 55 pounds for a total of 1,980 pounds, under solicitation SPMYM225Q2009. The specialized abrasive material, manufactured by Barton International with National Stock Number 5350-HM-CN0-2217, is specifically required for marine water jet equipment operations at naval facilities. Contractors must submit signed and completed solicitations via email or fax to be considered responsive, with specific compliance requirements including NIST SP 800-171 assessments for non-COTS items and adherence to various federal regulations covering cybersecurity, telecommunications equipment, and supply chain security. The solicitation includes detailed packaging, hazardous material handling, and electronic invoicing requirements through Wide Area Workflow (WAWF). The response deadline is July 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with electronic submission available through SAM.gov, and a single award is anticipated.

This procurement is designated as a total small business set-aside, specifically targeting small business, service-disabled veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business categories. Previous documentation indicates Barton Abrasive International has been the sole source provider for this specialized blasting grit, with past procurement values ranging between $5,000-$250,000, though no specific budget amount is disclosed in the current solicitation. The HPX 80 blasting grit is specifically recommended by equipment manufacturer Omax for their machines to prevent frequent clogs and ensure machine parts longevity. Delivery is required to the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & IMF in Bremerton, Washington, by July 22, 2025. The material is authorized for use across multiple zones including San Diego Personnel (SD-84), Shop 64 Woodworker/Shipwright (BREM-64), and Shop 31 Machinist & Equipment Maintenance (BREM-31), all utilizing process code ID0100 for abrasive blasting operations.
