Approximately 493,000 acres of federal land is administered by the USACE Garrison Project. Said land starts approximately two (2) miles downstream of the Garrison Dam and continues upstream along both riverbanks (including shoreline) of Lake Sakakawea (in McLean, Mercer, Dunn, McKenzie, Williams and Mountrail Counties) to west of the Highway 85 Bridge near Williston, ND almost to the Montana border. Noxious weed control and vegetation management are a component of our stewardship responsibilities.
