About this opportunity

The Defense Logistics Agency Aviation (DLA Aviation) is conducting a market research request for a specific FCU (presumably a communication unit) with NSN 5895-01-675-2571 and part number 6014726-001. The agency is seeking to determine if alternative sources can satisfy their requirements for this equipment, with a primary focus on identifying potential commercial or nondevelopmental items. The solicitation is being conducted under 10 U.S.C. 2304(C)(1), which indicates limited source availability and specialized procurement criteria. Interested parties are invited to submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations by June 3, 2025, with the contracting officer Rocky Tello as the primary point of contact. The agency is explicitly interested in understanding market capabilities and potential subcontracting opportunities, with suggested engagement from firms like BAE and Ametek.

The procurement is not set aside for small businesses and involves an estimated quantity of 10 units with an anticipated 18-month delivery schedule. The contract duration is currently to be determined, and the solicitation number is SPRHA4-25-R-0825. While specific award values are not disclosed, the procurement is classified under NAICS code 334290 for Other Communications Equipment Manufacturing. Foreign participation is not permitted at the prime contractor level, and the government has determined that purchasing additional data rights or reverse engineering would be uneconomical. The agency has noted that specifications, plans, and drawings for the procurement are incomplete or unavailable, which further underscores the specialized nature of this potential procurement. The solicitation will remain archived until June 3, 2026, providing an extended window for potential respondents to demonstrate their capabilities.
