About this opportunity

The Department of Energy is seeking expressions of interest from manufacturers capable of fabricating commercial-quality Low Activity Waste (LAW) melter bubbler assemblies for the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant. Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C), serving as the DOE prime contractor at the Hanford Site near Richland, Washington, is responsible for providing a continuous supply of these critical components to support the plant's operations. The procurement aims to increase awareness among prospective offerors, expand the current manufacturing supplier base, and survey the marketplace for qualified manufacturers. The Hanford WTP is currently in start-up and commissioning operations and requires these bubbler assemblies throughout its remaining operational life. Interested parties must submit their expressions of interest by October 9, 2025, following the September 4, 2025 posting date.

This procurement does not utilize any set-aside designations, making it open to all qualified contractors regardless of size or socioeconomic status. H2C is identified as the current DOE prime contractor responsible for overseeing this procurement and the broader Hanford Site operations. The bubbler assemblies must support the WTP's remaining 40-year design life, indicating a substantial long-term commitment and potential for multiple contract awards or extended performance periods. While specific quantities and award values are not disclosed in this pre-solicitation notice, the 40-year operational timeline suggests significant procurement volumes and contract values over the program's duration. The emphasis on expanding the supplier base indicates DOE's interest in establishing multiple qualified sources for these specialized components to ensure reliable supply chain continuity.
