About this opportunity
NASA's Shared Services Center has issued a Special Notice for engineering services and SSI encoders, specifically for the procurement of Synchronous Serial Interface (SSI) Master Module Boards. The agency intends to make a sole source award to United Electronic Industries Inc. of Norwood, Massachusetts, under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), having determined this company is the sole provider of the required specialized services. The procurement falls under NAICS code 334515 for Instrument Manufacturing for Measuring and Testing Electricity and Electrical Signals, with performance to be conducted at NASA Johnson Space Center. NASA/NSSC will serve as the procuring center for this specialized technical requirement.
The purpose of this Special Notice is to procure 8 units of catalog assembly part number DNR-SL-514 SSI Master Module Boards for rapid prototype test hardware at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. The technical specifications require 4-port synchronous serial communications with industry standard SSI master/slave functionality, clock rates up to 1.3 MHz, and custom programmable capability enhanced from 32-bit to 128-bit CLOCK/DATA FRAME with 350 Vrms isolation. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing to the contracting officer, Cara Craft, by 1:00 p.m. Central Standard Time on June 27, 2025. NASA will evaluate all submissions solely to determine whether to conduct the procurement competitively, though the final procurement decision remains at the government's discretion. The components must be manufactured according to vendors' own Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) specifications and delivered to NASA Johnson Space Center's Mechanical Design and Analysis Branch.
