Scope and Purpose
The FDA Library requires a site license for web based access to Embase.com. Embase.com provides 25 million indexed biomedical literature records, drawn from over 7,600 journals. It contains records from international journals not covered by Medline and provides in-depth drug indexing. Embase.com is a core biomedical literature database relied on by FDA researchers to help identify scientific literature they need to reference in their reviews and other work. In 2009, FDA Library procured perpetual access to Embase Classic, a digitized backfile that covers more than 1.8 million biomedical and pharmacological citations, drawn from over 3,400 international titles from between 1947 and 1973.
