About this opportunity
The US Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center—Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) is preparing to procure eDNA Autosampler Equipment to support environmental monitoring of wildlife, biological threats, and hazards at U.S. military installations, with industry feedback due by July 13, 2026.
ERDC-CERL currently operates Smith-Root brand equipment and seeks to acquire alternate brands to expand laboratory capabilities across commercially available platforms. The procurement is not set-aside restricted.
Autosamplers must be field-deployable with solar or battery power options, capable of autonomous water collection with 47 mm filtration and sample preservation, and fully automated with advance scheduling. Equipment must collect and preserve eight or more samples for a minimum of thirty days post-processing.
ERDC-CERL has identified two specific configurations: one Dartmouth Ocean Technologies submersible platform rated to five meters depth, and one MTE Instruments shore-based (non-submersible) platform. The agency is soliciting industry feedback on potential distributor vendors for these brands, including small business distributors, and on alternative commercially available brands meeting the minimum requirements.
This posting is issued under FAR Part 5.101(a) market research authority and is not an official solicitation or request for competitive quotations. The NAICS code is 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing); PSC is 6635 (Physical Properties Testing and Inspection).

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineer Research and Development Center - Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) seeks to acquire eDNA Autosampler Equipment to support Resource Management and Sustainment research needs and to enable more effective environmental monitoring of wildlife, biological threats, and hazards at US military installations.
The ERDC-CERL lab already owns Smith-Root brand eDNA Autosampler Equipment and is specifically seeking to acquire other/alternate brands in this procurement to increase their laboratory capabilities to cover a variety of commercially available brands. The eDNA Autosampling platforms to be acquired must be designed for field-deployable usage (solar/battery power options) for autonomous water collection, filtration (with 47 mm filters), and sample preservation. They should be fully automated with ability to schedule the machine in advance to run at specified times and should be capable of collecting and preserving 8 or more samples for a minimum of 30 days after processing.
In their market research to date, ERDC-CERL researchers have specifically identified the following brands as potentially fulfilling their requirements, and is seeking industry feedback on potential distributor vendors for those brands (including but not limited to small business distributors), as well as feedback on alternative, commercially available brands to those identified that fulfill the minimum requirements above as well as those below.
1) Dartmouth Ocean Technologies (DOT) submersible eDNA Autosampler: the ERDC-CERL team requires one platform that is water-submersible up to 5 meters.
2) MTE Instruments shore-based eDNA Autosampler: the ERDC-CERL team requires one platform for shore-based (out of water) use.
