Notice text
Description: This pre-solicitation notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested or potential offerors of the District's imminent issue of an Invitation for Bids (IFB) to obtain dredging services for the quote mark Waukegan Harbor Approach Channel Dredging quote mark located in the town of Waukegan, Illinois.
Project Information: Under the anticipated contract, the Contractor will be responsible for necessary facilities, plants, labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to perform dredging in the Waukegan Harbor Approach Channel. The work entails the mechanical dredging of about 125,000 cubic yards of material from the Waukegan Outer Harbor during the initial year, and an option item for an equivalent amount of dredging and associated services that can be exercised within a year of contract award. The period of performance (POP) for the base work is 400 days. The project includes related dredging services, including inspection and water monitoring. Similar dredging work has been done here in recent years, and the anticipated dredging work is thereby divided into particular quantities depending on the current state of the targeted section(s) of the harbor. The project will be dredged mechanically to depths of -22LDW, plus a 1' allowable over-dredge. The dredged sediment will be deposited by a bottom-dump scow in two locations along the Lake Michigan shore line, with one located north of the dredging area, and the other south of the dredging area.
ACQUISITION INFORMATION: Competition for this acquisition is Restricted to HUBZone Small Businesses. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System Code 237990, which applies a small business size standard of $36.5M. The magnitude of cost for construction, with options, is estimated at $1M to $5M. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the Internet only.
