About this opportunity
This Special Notice from the Drug Enforcement Administration seeks destruction services for approximately 40,000 pounds of unwanted pharmaceuticals collected during a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Veolia ES Technical Solutions LLC will be awarded a sole source contract to incinerate the drugs from collection sites around the country at its permitted facility in Sauget, Illinois.
Offerors must submit pricing for the destruction services by March 22, 2024, including costs for witnessing the incineration and potential second burns. As the only entity with the necessary state and federal permits, Veolia is the sole source able to legally dispose of the controlled substances via incineration. The period of performance is from April 29 through June 30, 2024. This Special Notice aims to safely and responsibly destroy unwanted drugs gathered through the Administration's initiative to reduce misuse and protect water sources from pharmaceutical contamination.
