Geological Survey (USGS) is interested in chartering an offshore research vessel (oceanographic research vessel) to support the collection of geophysical data in the Eastern Gulf of Alaska (The study area is in open waters along the continental slope (100-2000 m water depth) between Cross Sound and Dixon Entrance) for a maximum nineteen (19) days between August 6-25, 2016. USGS field personnel will mobilize and load scientific equipment on the vessel on or about August 6, 2016 at Seward. The vessel will transit with the equipment and personnel to the study site in the Eastern Gulf of Alaska. Approximately ten (10) days will be spent on site conducting a geophysical survey. Upon completion of scientific operations, the vessel will return to Seward, where USGS personnel will demobilize and unload the equipment.

The vessel will provide transportation and support for the science crew of up to eight (8) people working for USGS.

As required by FAR 5.101(a) (1), the forthcoming Solicitation (G16PS00104) will be made available through the Government Point of Entry (GPE) on or about, December 10, 2015. This procurement is conducted as a competitive acquisition under the provisions of under FAR Parts 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items and 13.5 Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items, and will be designated as a small business set-aside. All responses must be by email to the Contract Specialist at jmdavis@usgs.gov.

The associated NAICS code is 483113 - Coastal and Great Lakes Freight Transportation, for which the associated size standard is 500 employees.
