NOTICIFICATION OF SOLE SOURCE AWARD
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 4, on behalf of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, in accordance with FAR 6.301 Only one responsible source, has awarded a Sole Source, Firm-Fixed Price contract for Ceiling Lift GS - 27 lift upgrades.
Contract was awarded to TRILLAMED, LLC.
Arjo ceiling lifts were standardized at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) back in 2009 when we were moving towards becoming a no-lift facility and the ARJO Ceiling Lift System was purchased throughout both Medical Centers in Patient Care, Critical Care and Long-Term Care and some outpatient areas. These lifts assist with reducing the number of staff and patient injuries due to bathing, lifting, moving, repositioning, etc. When there are staff injuries due to lifting this dramatically impacts productivity decreasing the number of staff available to provide care. The ceiling lift systems also requires construction to install them and again are throughout both our locations University Drive and H.J. Heinz Division. Our Biomed Department is familiar with maintaining and repairing these lifts as well. Nursing staff are trained and have competencies for use of these lifts and can readily use them without additional education.
For standardization sake and proprietary reasons, we are requesting the purchase of ArjoHuntleigh ceiling lift systems at VAPHS. Maintaining the same brand equipment will allow for ease of transition, and minimal user error and confusion. Additionally, it reduces the duplication of procurement efforts and activities due to standardize stock items for replacement parts and supplies.
The NAICS Code, 339112 Surgical and Medical Instrument Manufacturing; Size standard 1000 Employees are to be used.
