About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting market research to identify potential manufacturers for a B-2 Landing Gear Valve, Regulation (NSN: 4810013781340LE, P/N: DAA3222P501-243 or 6005312-1). This pre-solicitation notice seeks to determine if responsible sources exist that can obtain proprietary manufacturing data for the specific valve component. The government is interested in both small and large business concerns within the NAICS Code 336413 (maximum size of 1,250 employees), with a primary objective of assessing potential competitive acquisition strategies. Interested parties are requested to respond by February 24, 2025, and demonstrate their capability or ability to access the technical data and drawings required for manufacturing. The evaluation will focus on firms' capacity to obtain rights to proprietary information from the original equipment manufacturers, which include The Boeing Company and Meggitt Aircraft Braking System.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation, meaning all businesses can compete. The government anticipates issuing a Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) sole source contract, with Meggitt Aircraft Braking System (Cage Code 0B9R9) currently identified as the potential contractor. Reverse-engineering attempts for this valve have been deemed economically unfeasible, further emphasizing the importance of accessing original proprietary data. While specific contract value or quantity details are not provided, the procurement is structured as a supply contract with a fixed-price arrangement. The government's approach suggests a focused, specialized procurement where technical data access and manufacturing capability are critical evaluation criteria. The notice serves primarily as a market research tool to assess potential sources and refine the acquisition strategy for this specialized aircraft component.
