About this opportunity

The U.S. Department of Energy's Hanford Field Office is seeking construction services for an Advanced Modular Pretreatment System as part of its comprehensive effort to retrieve and treat radioactive waste stored at the Hanford Site in Richland, Washington. This procurement falls under the Industrial Building Construction NAICS category (236210) and is essential to the DOE's mission of safeguarding the Columbia River by closing Tank Farms and properly managing mixed radioactive waste. The project addresses the treatment of approximately 54 million gallons of waste currently stored in 177 underground tanks, which contains solids, liquids, and saltcake requiring specialized handling and processing. Interested contractors should note that this is a pre-solicitation notice, with a formal solicitation expected by April 2, 2026, providing potential bidders with advance notice to prepare their proposals and submit any clarifying questions during the designated period.

This procurement has not been set aside for any specific business category, making it open to all qualified contractors meeting the technical and construction requirements. The notice does not identify any incumbent contractors or specify a particular award value or budget range at this pre-solicitation stage. However, the scale of the project reflects the significant complexity involved in handling radioactive waste treatment, suggesting a substantial contract value appropriate to construction services at a major DOE facility. Contractors interested in bidding should monitor the official posting for the full solicitation details, including technical specifications, timeline requirements, and evaluation criteria that will be released closer to the April 2, 2026 deadline.
