About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA VHA) is seeking a contractor to provide a specialized decontamination shelter for the C.W. Bill Young Veterans Medical Center in Bay Pines, Florida. The procurement is specifically for an Air-Shelter Model 284 inflatable Temporary Shelter, with precise technical requirements including military-grade neoprene construction, UV/chemical resistance, and specific dimensional specifications between 20-30 feet long and 14-16 feet wide. The shelter must feature air-inflatable capabilities with a setup time under 5 minutes, pre-plumbed decontamination shower heads, dual traffic lanes for ambulatory and non-ambulatory use, and integrated utilities like electrical systems and waste management components. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on March 10, 2025, with responses due by March 13, 2025, indicating a very tight response window for potential vendors. Technical evaluation will likely focus on the shelter's ability to meet the comprehensive and detailed specifications outlined in the solicitation.
The contract opportunity is set aside exclusively for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB), which will limit competition to qualifying vendors. While specific award value is not disclosed, the comprehensive technical requirements suggest a potentially significant procurement investment. The shelter must include multiple specialized features such as a 500-gallon waste water bladder, electrical submersible waste pump, integrated lighting, roll-up windows and doors, stakes, carrying bag, and maintenance kit. The procurement falls under NAICS category 624221 (Temporary Shelters) and Product Service Code 8340 (Tents and Tarpaulins), which helps define the scope of acceptable vendors. No additional training or software requirements are specified, which may simplify the implementation process for the selected contractor. The solicitation suggests the VA VHA is seeking a robust, rapidly deployable decontamination solution that can be quickly set up in emergency or medical response scenarios.
