Notice text
The Veteran s Administration (VA) Office of Research and Development, Regional Procurement Office East in Pittsburgh, PA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Clinical Image Retrieval Systems, Inc. based in Sparta, NJ on behalf of the Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, GA.
Investigators at the Atlanta VA Health Care System s Center for Visual and Neurocognitive Rehabilitation (CVNR) are conducting various research studies that investigate gait anomalies and their association with aging effects on the brain before and after exercise intervention(s).
To accurately assess improvements in gait and walking patterns, both pre- and post-intervention, and to allow accurate comparisons between interventions, the standard is to utilize a single layer pressure sensitive walkway that measures temporal and spatial parameters and caters to all walking abilities. A proper gait analysis provides researchers with valuable information regarding functional walking patterns and provides insight into possible diagnostic protocols for numerous conditions and diseases. A portable walkway with appropriate sensors that analyzes multiple gait cycles in a single walk, and offers reporting and web publishing options, would allow for consistent and reliable documentation from pre- to post-intervention. As a result, the data and results can be validated across multiple participants with varying conditions and diagnoses, as well as across varying projects with differing outcomes, which instills confidence in both the data sets and our research program.
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS: The vendor shall provide gait analysis equipment with camera in accordance with the following salient characteristics as a minimum:
System shall give accurate, reliable, and validated outputs of an individual s walking pattern to allow for identification of gait anomalies.
Shall be portable to allow movement within the CVNR lab and hallways to accommodate multiple testing ergometers and spaces.
Shall be backward compatible with previous data sets acquired using older GAITRite hardware.
Shall include the ability to track multiple parameters within single or multiple walks, including temporal and spatial parameters, that can be generated and configured within reports.
Shall be functional for various patient populations, including those who use assistive walking devices like rollators and walkers.
Shall allow for building of large subject databases for extensive data collection and analysis.
