About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, specifically the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida, is seeking to procure seven Codonics medication labeling systems for their Anesthesiology Department. The procurement is driven by the current systems reaching end-of-life, with existing equipment becoming non-functional due to discontinued printer ink production. The contract requires vendors to provide brand-specific labeling systems that can integrate with current medical management systems and meet Joint Commission (TJC), American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA), and ISO labeling guidelines. Vendors must also supply operating software, complete installation, provide a Return-to-Factory Warranty, and conduct on-site training for Specialty procedures and Biomedical/Clinical Engineering staff. The solicitation response is due by May 16, 2025, with an expected delivery timeline of 30 days after order receipt.

The solicitation is exclusively set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSB) with a NAICS code of 339113 and a size standard of 800 employees. The current contractor is Codonics, whose Safe Label System is being replaced due to technological obsolescence. While specific award value is not detailed, the procurement involves seven SLS 550I medication labeling printers and administrative mode keys. The place of performance is 13000 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa, Florida 33612, specifically within the Department of Anesthesiology at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. The technical requirements include full-color label printing capabilities, compliance with medical labeling standards, and integration with existing medical management systems, with a focus on patient safety and standardized medication identification.
