STATEMENT OF WORK

10 March 2009

BRADLEY AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE

PN: CEKT 092109

1.

LOCATION. Bradley ANG Base, 100 Nicholson Rd, East Granby, CT 06026-9309. Arrangements for entrance onto the Base must be made by contacting Base Engineering at (860) 292-2484 or (860) 292-2594 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

2.

PURPOSE. The purpose of this specification is to replace four existing emergency eyewash/shower stations in the Vehicle Maintenance Building (bldg. 16) at Bradley Air National Guard Base. These replacement stations will meet all applicable codes and standards as explained in this Statement of Work.

3.

BACKGROUND. Currently there are two eyewash stations in the vehicle maintenance bays, one combination eyewash/shower station in the vehicle refueling bay, and one wall mounted eyewash station in the welding bay within building 16. Over the past winter, the building lost heat causing damage to the refueling bay eyewash/shower. This station is currently not functional. The vehicle maintenance bays require a shower, which a shower in the locker room is currently designated for this purpose. There is also no provision within the building to prevent damage to these stations during winter operations, when the bay doors may require being open for an extended period of time and these also do not meet the current codes and standards for eyewash/shower stations.

In order to correct this issue, four new eyewash/shower stations need to be installed within the building. These stations need to be protected from the freezing weather, have warning lighting, and tied into the existing building alarm system.

4.

SCOPE. The work covered in this contract consists of furnishing all labor, expertise, equipment, materials, facilities, transportation, and appliances necessary to perform operations in connection with the removal and replacement of four new eyewash/shower stations. The work provided by the contractor shall be compliant with manufacturers specifications on installation, and includes the work described in paragraph 5, Summary of Work. Where applicable, requirements of the contract documents apply to alteration work in the same manner as to new construction.

See attached drawings for locations. These stations are to have alert strobes and tied into existing Monaco Fire Alarm Panel as per manufacturers specifications.

g. New hot and cold water piping, mixing valves, circulating pump (if needed), heat trace tape and insulation on all new piping will be required for these stations and sized according to manufacturer’s specifications. The new piping will begin in the mechanical room, see attached drawings, and extend to all four stations. Existing water service into building is 2” ID and reduced to 1.5” at meter. Hot water service is .75” ID.

h. Contractor shall provide a minimum one year warranty on parts, equipment and labor.
